Greater North Fulton Chamber Connects Students with North Fulton Businesses

The Greater North Fulton Chamber is dedicated to regional prosperity, which includes securing high-quality talent for all business types in North Fulton. Director of Economic & Talent Development Mark Goodman worked closely with Fulton County Schools to facilitate a pipeline of high school talent to skilled job opportunities in North Fulton.

Recently, the Chamber worked with Roswell High School’s Work-Based Learning program to connect Senior Justin Rush to an internship with Georgia Specialty Constructors.

“I'm glad to have the opportunity to get a job in the field,” said Rush. “It sets me up for success in the future, and there is a new challenge every day.”

L. Flemister, Roswell High School’s Work-Based Learning Coordinator and construction teacher Dale Hales work together to manage students’ relationships with local companies and their pathways to a successful career out of high school. The Georgia Work-Based Learning Program assists businesses with building a highly trained, technologically sophisticated and career oriented young work force. Their goal is to assist in the creation of a strong support structure between local employers, students and schools. Students are allowed to leave school early, learn occupational skills, collaborate on curriculum, gain work experience and master employable skills.

“I’m so thankful for the partnership I have with Mr. Goodman and the Greater North Fulton Chamber,” said L. Flemister. “He has introduced me to key people, like Avery Vasily with Georgia Specialty Constructors, who have opened their offices and businesses so our students can learn employability skills. Together we are building a stronger Georgia Work Force.”

Dale Hales has also helped build the workforce pipeline harnessing his passion for students gaining experience in the construction field.

“Construction has given me incredible opportunities I want to share with young students. I believe students should learn not only the valuable life skills that come from construction, but also be given information about the avenues and options they have to become successful in the industry,” said Hales. “With access to learning construction skills, kids are set up for a more promising career in a field that desperately needs skilled talent.”

The Greater North Fulton Chamber continues to work with local high schools and colleges to bring together the education and business community with hopes for a solid workforce pipeline in North Fulton.
